Rules of the Library

Madison County Public Library

Approved by Board ____November 20, 2007______amended 7/21/2009________________

 

In order to make the library safer for all people, the following actions are not allowed in the library.  If you participate in such actions, you will be asked to leave the library. 

·         Not wearing shirt and shoes when visiting the library

·         Eating or drinking except in designated areas or as involved in a library program.

·         Annoying, harassing, or threatening another person.

·         Physical, sexual or verbal abuse of another person.

·         Carrying weapons.

·         Stealing, defacing, or destroying of library property.

·         Interfering with free passage of others.

·         Behaving in a disorderly, loud, disruptive, or indecent manner.

·         Playing audio equipment loudly enough to disturb others.

·         Soliciting, selling, campaigning, proselytizing.

·         Interfering with others’ use of the library through unhealthy hygiene

·         Leaving young children or vulnerable adults unsupervised or unattended.

·         Bringing unleashed or uncaged animals into the library or leaving any animal unattended in the library or near an entrance.

·         Bringing vehicles into the library except as required for young children or persons with disabilities

·         Skateboarding/roller-blading in the library or in the parking lot.

·         Being inside the library when it is not open to the public.

·         While cell phones are not prohibited, patrons are asked to be considerate of others and put their phones on vibrate when entering the library.

·         Running in the library.

·         Violation of any computer policies.
