Volunteer Information: Library Liason

Job Description
    Purpose of Position: To increase public awareness of the library and its roles by representing the library at selected functions or with various organizations.

Qualifications:
    Qualifications: Have an outgoing, sociable personality and ability to communicate clearly and effectively m writing and verbally. Have enthusiasm about the Public Library and its value to the community. Be willing to learn about library roles and functions.

Responsible to: Library Director, Branch Librarian, or Youth Services Librarian.

Responsibilities.

  1. Become familiar with the Library's Long Range Plan and he aware of its implications for library service and the community.
  2. Be familiar with general library policies and procedures..
  3. Occasionally attend meeting of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee of the Friends of the Library.
  4. Work with Library staff to develop and deliver talks for civic groups that explain library roles.
  5. Work with Library staff to gather materials to take to various events. such as Resource Fairs and school events.

Must possess a valid driver's license and operate a vehicle.

Time Commitment: one year

Grounds for Termination:
    Misrepresenting the Library, criticizing the Library in public inability to perform tasks proficiently- failure to maintain confidentiality or failure to fulfil time commitment.
