Event Details

Madison County Public Library’s Digital Services is holding its first Game Con on August 20th! Stop by the Richmond location from 10-5 where we will be celebrating gaming from table to TV. We'll have a free videogame arcade with arcade cabinets and plenty of consoles to choose from, so you’ll be sure to find something you love. We’ll also have speedrunning exhibitions throughout the day, and if you’re feeling competitive we’ll have tournaments for Mario Kart and Smash Brothers Ultimate.

If you’re looking for tabletop gaming instead, there will be a wide selection of board games to play from the library’s collection, and volunteers from local game shops to help you get started with our games quickly if you’ve never played them before. If role-playing is more of your thing, you can sign up for our short 50-minute Dungeons & Dragons sessions to introduce you to tabletop RPGs.

There will also be three different panels throughout the day: we’ll teach you how to run your own RPG campaign, how to get involved with cosplay, and a tutorial on how to get started streaming your games on Twitch.

When it’s break time, we have a vendor alley with local vendors and their gaming merchandise, local food trucks and a dining area outdoors, and we’ll wrap up the whole event with a cosplay contest.

It’s the perfect event to wrap up summer just as school is getting started, so stop on by for the Game Con!
