Sound & Recording Studio Intro

Get started with the Joan Kleine Creative Studio's Sound & Recording facility! This introductory class will teach you the basics of recording audio with Reaper and composing music with Ableton Live.

Topics covered include:

Recording

  • Microphone choice and setup
  • Using our mixer
  • Recording audio from the recording booth to Reaper
  • Working with multiples takes of the same performance

Composition

  • Using the MIDI keyboard controller with Ableton Live
  • Choosing an instrument in Ableton
  • Recording a clip and sequencing MIDI by hand
  • Using MIDI and Audio effects

This program is intended for ages 14 and up. Children 13 and younger are welcome but must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
