Provides Supported Community Living (SCL) and Michelle P. (MPW) Medicaid waivers, as well as a variety of programs for Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Court Appointed Special Advocates® (CASA) are community volunteers who help abused and neglected children. Our CASA program partners every child in the court system because of instances of abuse or neglect with a personal advocate to serve their best interests.

A reporting system for suspected instances of abuse/neglect which occurred in Kentucky and do not require an emergency response.

The department provides family support; child care; child and adult protection; eligibility determinations for Medicaid and food benefits; and administration of an energy cost-assistance program. The department administers the state foster care and adoption systems and recruits and trains parents to care for the state's children who are waiting for a permanent home.

Provides public defender services.

Licensed child care for infants, toddlers and preschoolers of single parents who are full-time students in an approved post-secondary institution who have primary custody of child. Other requirements may apply. Subsidized child care for those who qualify.
