Program Description

Event Details

Learn how to play American Mahjong at the library! This adult program features free, guided lessons that introduce rules, tile combinations, and beginner-friendly strategies. Classes in January and February will feature instruction, with open play sessions for adults starting in March.

Advanced registration is required.

Please read these basic rules for all players:

  1. Our group will use NMJL rules. Therefore, there will be no table rules such as using blanks or “ghost” players.
  2. Our group understands that people want to play with their friends, and we will do our best to accommodate that for the first game. At the end of the first game, East will rotate out to the next table.
  3. Please no food at the table. Drinks in covered containers are allowed.
  4. Please handle the tiles gently with clean hands.
  5. Games will not be played for money/no gambling of any kind is allowed.
  6. Open play is not for instruction. Open play sessions are for adults who have a basic understanding of Mahjong and have either had at least one lesson or have played previously.

Thank you and have a great time!
